MOTORCYCLE STUCK TO BACK OF A BIG RIG CAUSES CHAIN-REACTION CRASH

Sketchy details about a chain-reaction traffic accident that tied up Highway 62 for more than an hour yesterday. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Levi Miller, the CHP believes that a male rider on a Yamaha V-Star motorcycle, traveling westbound on the highway about 3 p.m., either rear-ended a big rig trailer, or somehow got tangled up in the back of the trailer. The driver of the big rig didn’t realize he had a motorcycle stuck to the back of his trailer and kept going. At White Feather Road, the motorcycle went down and the big rig driver drove on, oblivious. A white Ford pick-up truck, also traveling westbound and driven by an unidentified man, braked sharply to avoid the fallen motorcycle and rider. His truck was then rear-ended by a young woman driving a blue Chevy pick-up truck. The unidentified motorcycle rider was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with moderate injuries; the male driver of the white pick-up truck was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center. If anyone has any information about the accident, call the California Highway Patrol at 760-366-3707.
