A man was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with a trash truck in Yucca Valley Wednesday afternoon. Just before 1 p.m., first responders were called to the intersection of Balsa Avenue and Buena Vista Drive, just west of Avalon. Sheriff’s deputies say that a 33-year-old Yucca Valley man was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Buena Vista behind a Burrtec trash truck. Just as the unidentified motorcycle rider attempted to pass the trash truck and several other cars in the eastbound lanes, the 36-year-old driver of the Burrtec truck made a left turn onto Balsa Avenue, and the motorcycle rider collided broadside with the left side of the truck. The man sustained major injuries and he was transported to the Yucca Valley airport where he was flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
