MOTOR HOME FIRE VICTIM’S IDENTIFIED, 1 CONFIRMATION SOUGHT

The San Bernardino County Coroner is asking for the public’s help in locating the family or friends of a woman whose body was found earlier this month after a fire in Twentynine Palms. The coroner believes the victim to be 52-year-old Michelle Smith, of Twentynine Palms or Yucca Valley, but her identity can’t be confirmed without the assistance of her family. The male victim who was found with her has been identified as Garry Lee Granstad, 62, of Twentynine Palms. On March 11, county firefighters responded to a motor home fire in the 72000 block of Tepee Road, near Morongo Road and Sunny Sands Drive, about 11:40 p.m. The motor home was fully engulfed in flames when fire fighters arrived, and the bodies were found inside the burned debris after the fire was extinguished. Anyone with information about Michelle Smith should call 909-387-2383 or 909-387-2978.
