MOTHER OF MISSING TWENTYNINE PALMS WOMAN ASKS FOR HELP IN SEARCH

The mother of the Twentynine Palms woman missing since Saturday is asking for the public’s help. Authorities have been working nearly around the clock in their search for Erin Corwin, 19, who has not been seen since early Saturday morning. Sheriff’s investigators say she left her home on board the Twentynine Palms Marine Base about 7 a.m. Saturday morning to scout out locations in Joshua Tree National Park to visit with her mother—who was planning a two-week trip to celebrate Corwin’s birthday later this month. Marine Corporal Jonathan Corwin reported his wife missing about 9:30 Sunday morning, and her car, a blue Toyota Corolla, was found Monday on Valle Vista, just a short distance away from the Condor gate of the Marine Base. Sheriff officials, including Homicide detectives, have set up a command post in Luckie Park in Twentynine Palms, where they are directing the investigation. Corwin’s mother, Lore Heavilin, told Z107.7 News that she was supportive of her daughter’s decision to get married in November 2012 so that Corwin could live on base, which Heavilin felt was safer. Heavilin urged anyone with any information about Erin Corwin—no matter how insignificant it may seem—to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 909-387-3589. Erin Corwin is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 120 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, and had just discovered she was pregnant.
