MORONGO VALLEY WOMAN ACCUSED OF STEALING FRIENDS MONEY AND DOG

A transient woman was arrested Wednesday, accused of stealing a dog and money from friends, and then burglarizing another home. According to Sheriff reports, Ramola Nair, 55, had been living with friends in the 50200 block of Palo Verde Road in Morongo Valley for a couple months, and had brought them to the airport last week. While the friends were gone, Nair allegedly took one of their dogs and money they had left to cover the dogs’ food and for emergencies. When deputies went to the home Tuesday to look for Nair and the dog, they were no longer there. Then about 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, deputies got a panicked call from a resident in the 62000 block of Sunburst Circle of Joshua Tree who said that a woman and a large dog were inside her home. She said she was hiding in a bedroom. Deputies say Nair, along with the dog, walked in through the home’s unlocked front door and Nair took a shower. She also allegedly rummaged through the homeowner’s belongings and found a ring and earrings and put them on. When deputies arrived, Ramola Nair was arrested for investigation of two charges of burglary, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set $150,000.
