Join the Morongo Valley fire Department tomorrow as the recognize National Wildfire Preparedness Day. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has your invitations…
Morongo Valley and the Morongo Valley Fire Department joins a nationwide effort this Saturday for National Wildfire Preparedness Day. High temperatures and extremely dry conditions raise concerns for the possibility of larger, faster, more intense wildfires especially during the summer months. The message is more poignant than ever considering this fourth year of extended drought in the state. Saturday’s free event is an opportunity for Basin residents to hear from “first responders” from Morongo Valley Fire Department, Cal Fire, CERT, the Highway Patrol, and others. Free hot dogs, hamburgers and fire safety information on defensible space and planning for a wildfire are yours for the taking this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Covington Park in Morongo Valley.
