MORONGO VALLEY UNVEILS SAND-TO-SNOW MONUMENT SIGN

The Morongo Valley Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new welcome sign yesterday. The sign, located at the corner of Highway 62 and Hess Boulevard, says “Morongo Valley — Home of Sand-to-Snow National Monument.” The new Sand to Snow National Monument was part of a package proposed by Senator Diane Feinstein that also included the Mojave Trails and Castle Mountains national monuments. President Obama used the Antiquities Act to approve all three Friday. Supporters say the Sand-to-Snow National Monument designation will bring more businesses to our Morongo Basin. They say it offers an opportunity to capitalize on the anticipated more than two million visitors to Joshua Tree National Park.
