Morongo Valley firefighters responded to its third vehicle fire in a week yesterday caused by an overheated engine. About 9:14 a.m., a Mercedes heading up the Yucca Grade became overheated near the shooting range at Yucca Park Road. Calfire was the first on scene with Morongo Valley firefighters about 30 seconds behind. The fire was just starting to take off when firefighters arrived, and they managed to contain it to the engine compartment. There were no injuries. On June 21, there was a car fire on the Morongo Grade, and on June 22, a car fire at Hess Boulevard and Highway 62, both in Morongo Valley.
