A Morongo Valley man out of prison on bail was arrested again for investigation into drug and weapon charges.
On Wednesday (August 14) at around 8 a.m. County Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at a house in the 49000 block of Visnaga Ave. in Morongo Valley. Deputies report finding Lisa Hoffman, 69, and Dawn Carter, 51 inside of the house. Deputies say that Hoffman was found to be in possession of approximately one ounce of methamphetamine and packaging materials. They report that Carter was found with approximately nine grams of fentanyl, nine grams of methamphetamine, and a semi-automatic handgun.
In May, Carter was arrested in Yucca Valley for suspicion of possession of drugs for sale. He was arraigned on July 3, entering pleas of not guilty to one felony and one misdemeanor, and is currently out of prison on bail. He appeared at the Joshua Tree courthouse on Tuesday (August 13) for a disposition hearing.
Dawn Carter was arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and committing a felony while on bail, and may face further charges from the County District Attorney. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $250,000 bail. Lisa Hoffman was cited and released.
