MORONGO VALLEY MAN ASSAULTS GIRLFRIEND WITH A GUN

A Morongo Valley man was arrested Saturday morning, accused of hitting his girlfriend with a gun. According to a Sheriff’s report, a woman called the Sheriff’s Department about 12:30 a.m. Saturday to report that her boyfriend had hit her in the face with a pellet rifle. When deputies arrived at the home in the 10500 block of Stagecoach in Morongo Valley, the woman told them that Joshua McDaniel, 34, had hit her in the face with the butt of the rifle. She had a broken nose, and bruises and lacerations on her face and her back. The report states that McDaniel said that the woman had attacked him, and he was trying to get the gun away from her, and in the process, hit her once in the face. The deputy determined that the woman’s injuries were inconsistent with McDaniel’s story and arrested Joshua McDaniel for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon. McDaniel was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
