A Morongo Valley man who carried a dagger on a chain around his neck was arrested Sunday night. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy made a pedestrian check on Howard Bestwick, 37, about 10:30 p.m. near Rosella Drive and Alley Alley in Morongo Valley. According to the deputy, Bestwick held his hands in an awkward and unusual position, covering the center of his chest, while talking to the deputy. When Bestwick removed his hands, the deputy saw a thick chain attached to the handle of an exposed dagger. Howard Bestwick was arrested for investigation of possession of a dangerous weapon and on two warrants. He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $75,000.
