MORONGO VALLEY MAN, ANGRY ABOUT BEING CAUGHT IN INFIDELITY, BEATS UP GIRLFRIEND

A Morongo Valley man who was angry that his girlfriend caught him sleeping with another woman and so beat up his girlfriend, was arrested Thursday. According to a Sheriff’s report, Robert Packer, 52, was upset because his girlfriend did not invite him to dinner with her friends. On October 4, she reportedly caught him sleeping with another woman, and they argued about it the next day. The woman told deputies Thursday that he was drunk and started breaking things. She said he then grabbed her and choked her, dragged her by her hair and hit her in the back and chest four to five times. The woman told deputies that she didn’t report the assault earlier because she was in the hospital and because she said Packer said he would burn her house down if she reported him. Deputies went to Packer’s home in the 10500 block of Ryan Street in Morongo Valley Thursday evening and arrested Robert Packer for investigation of felony spouse abuse with a prior conviction. Packer was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
