MORONGO VALLEY FIREFIGHTERS HELP DELIVER BABY AT GAS STATION

A little girl couldn’t wait to make her appearance into the world this morning. Morongo Valley Fire Engineer Brandon Jones said a Yucca Valley woman was on her way to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs to deliver her second baby, but as they drove down the Yucca Grade, she and her husband realized they would not make it to the hospital in time for the birth. They called 911, and Paramedic Jorge Partida and Jones met the couple at the Chevron gas station at Senilis Avenue and Highway 62 in Morongo Valley about 4:30 a.m. Jones said within 5 to 10 minutes of their arrival, the baby girl was born in the back of the couple’s minivan. The healthy baby and mother were taken to Desert Hospital by Morongo Basin Ambulance.
