Morongo Valley firefighters sent a strike team Sunday night to the Border fire just east of San Diego. The Border Fire started Sunday morning near Highways 94 and 188 in Potrero, and jumped from 5 acres to 1,500 acres in a matter of hours. A fire engineer, two firefighters, and a brush engine from Morongo Valley left about 9 p.m. Sunday to help fight the wildfire, which is only 5 percent contained as of this morning. So far, four outbuildings have been destroyed, and one firefighter has suffered minor injuries. Potrero is about 45 miles east of San Diego.
