The purchase of a new Fire Engine for Morongo Valley has been put on hold, for now anyway. Managing Editor Tami Roleff was at last night’s CSD meeting, and explains…
The board of directors for the Morongo Valley Community Services District put their discussion about a new fire engine on hold last night after they got a very brief update from General Manager Donna Munoz, who said she had just returned from a long and very tense meeting with Kathleen Rollings-McDonald, the executive director of the Local Agency Formation Commission. “And she said, if we purchase a fire engine without 50 percent to 75 percent of that money in the bank, then—I’m not going to use the language that she used, but—basically, … she has the power to recommend that we are not being fiscally smart and that she would be recommending that we dissolve this district.” So far, the district has raised about $15,000 and needs at least another $150,000 in order to meet the 50 percent requirement.
