MORONGO VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT FULLY STAFFED, UNDER BUDGET, ACCORDING TO CSD BOARD

Following the appointment of two new directors, the Morongo Valley Community Services District continued on with the rest of their regularly scheduled meeting. Reporter Jef Harmatz returns to wrap up the rundown.

The CSD board of directors voted to extend interim Director of Operations Jim Brakebill’s employment agreement. Brakebill was brought in to resolve a staffing shortage at the Morongo Valley Fire Department, and he reported to the board that the shortage is over and the Fire Department is fully staffed. The board is currently seeking a permanent Director of Operations and has received thirteen applications for the position so far. Reviewing their mid-year budget, the board said that they were slightly more than $2000 under budget, even though legal fees went $13000 over budget, due to a number of special meetings held throughout November and December. Finally, the board considered bids to replace the bay doors of the fire station and rent firefighter turnouts, a type of protective outfit, as opposed to purchasing them.
