MORONGO VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT DELIVERS A BABY LAST NIGHT

A baby couldn’t wait until his mother got to the hospital to make his appearance last night. The Morongo Valley woman was getting ready to leave the hospital, but she didn’t make it past the house’s front porch. The Morongo Valley Fire Department was called to the 4900 block of Paradise Avenue to help deliver a baby at 7:49 p.m. Within minutes of the firefighters’ arrival, the woman, surrounded by her family, friends, and assisted by Fire Fighter Steve Buckles, gave birth to a boy at 7:57 p.m. Fire fighters evaluated both the mother and her newborn son—who both appeared fine—before they were taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. This is the second baby that Fire Fighter Buckles has delivered, the first being his own.
