MORONGO VALLEY FIRE CREWS ASSIST WITH STRANGE FIRE ON MORONGO GRADE

Morongo Valley firefighters responded to an odd fire call this morning. Crews were called to assist Riverside County firefighters about 6 a.m. on the eastbound lane of the Morongo Grade. A wooden post supporting the metal guardrail on the shoulder was burning. There was no one at the scene when firefighters arrived and no immediate cause of the blaze could be determined. The flames did not spread to any nearby vegetation.
