Morongo Valley Domestic Disturbance arrest leads to weapon and methamphetamine seizures

A domestic disturbance in Morongo Valley led to the arrest of a man on suspicion of being a felon in possession of weapons in possession of methamphetamine.

On Saturday, October 15, at around 11:00 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 9100 block of North Star Trail in Morongo Valley. During a 911 call, the female victim reported that she had been assaulted and the suspect was attempting to flee.

Deputies report that they responded to the residence, and asked the people inside to come out several times, with no response, at which point they entered the home, and found that the victim had escaped to safety.

While inside, Deputies say they located the suspect, Catarino Martinez, a 59 year-old resident of Morongo Valley, who was in possession of suspected methamphetamine for sales, a loaded shotgun, an un-serialized Glock style handgun, and several additional firearms.

Catarino Martinez was arrested for for suspicion of Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed and Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition and was booked at the West Valley Detention Center on $50,000.00 bail.
