At a special meeting last Saturday, the CSD passed a balanced budget that General Manager Donna Munoz described as “monumental and realistic.” Staffing changes in the fire department represent the greatest cost savings. Then at Wednesday night’s regular meeting, CSD directors passed several resolutions designed to bring additional savings or income streams, including display advertising on district fire trucks. Also on Wednesday night, directors passed a resolution recognizing May 2 as National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day and authorizing a related event in Covington Park offering free food, demonstrations and entertainment to bring awareness to the issue during what many predict could be a devastating wildfire season.
