MORONGO VALLEY CSD TO CONSIDER CONTRACT WITH COUNTY, THE IMMEDIATE TRANSITION OF DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

UPDATE 12/16

At the request of the MVCSD, we have changed the description of meetings to “Special” rather that “Emergency”

The Morongo Valley Community Services District meets tonight (December 15), and they will consider entering into a fire protection services agreement with the county, as well as the immediate retirement of the fire department’s Director of Operations. Reporter Jef Harmatz has a closer look at their agenda.

After a month filled with special meetings, the board meets tonight in a regular session to further explore the possibility of contracting additional fire services from the county to make up for the Morongo Valley Fire Department’s current staffing shortage. The board will also attempt to address staffing issues by considering an earlier retirement for the department’s Director of Operations Gerald Yearsley, who has been accused of creating a hostile work environment, and the board may approve an employment agreement with Deputy Chief Jim Brakebill to replace Yearsley. During a closed session, the board will discuss their significant exposure to potential litigation and continue their negotiations with the Morongo Valley Professional Firefighters Union. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be held online.
