Long-term planning is just one of the items up for discussion at tonight’s 7 p.m. meeting of the Morongo Valley Community Services District. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has more…
Under “new business,” the CSD board will discuss a long-term plan summary for the Local Agency Formation Commission or LAFCO. The topic is significant because long-term monitoring of the CSD is one of just two main agenda items up for discussion at LAFCO’s August 16 meeting. It is under LAFCO’s authority that the CSD, and municipal agencies like it, exist or cease to exist. A LAFCO report published just last week states that while the CSD continues to operate on a razor-thin margin, it has worked hard to keep itself afloat and should be commended. LAFCO staff is recommending the Commission reward the CSD by ending the heavy scrutiny of the last few years. Also tonight, the board will discuss the car show planned for October 14, the Solteris solar contract, repairs to the park maintenance truck, and a grass-roots effort to make ballfield improvements. Tonight’s meeting takes place in the Morongo Valley’s Covington Park Community Building.
