The Morongo Valley Community Services District Board of Directors will meet tonight (December 3) at 6 p.m. in special session. During the meeting, the board will continue their discussions regarding a staffing crisis and the potential closure of the fire department for 30-90 days. Prior to talking staffing concerns, the board will meet in closed session to conduct a public employee performance evaluation for the Director of Operations and then discuss public employee recruitment and appointment for the Director of Operations, General Manager, and Fire Chief. Also in closed session, the board is expected to conference with legal counsel for anticipated significant litigation. This special meeting comes after allegations of a hostile work environment created by Chief Yearsley, the proposed temporary closure of the department for staffing issues, and accusations of union-busting by closing the fire department which currently is staffed by union members.
The meeting will be held virtually on Zoom and can be accessed using the log-in information available below.
