At the request of the MVCSD, we have changed the description of meetings to “Special” rather that “Emergency”
Following lackluster public notice, there will be a special meeting of the Morongo Valley Community Services District at 6 p.m. tonight (December 10). Reporter Jef Harmatz has details on the meeting’s full agenda.
At tonight’s meeting, the board will take public comment before heading into closed session to discuss the appointment of an interim Director of Operations for the Morongo Valley Fire Department. At their previous meeting, the board announced their intention to appoint Deputy Fire Chief Jim Brakebill to this position. Brakebill will replace current Fire Chief and Director of Operations Gary Yearsley, who is stepping down at the end of the year. During the closed session, the board’s legal counsel will hold negotiations with the local firefighters union, and the board will also consult with their legal counsel regarding significant exposure to litigation. The announcement of the meeting, as of noon today, is still not posted online. Board members say that physical copies of the agenda were posted at Covington Park, Morongo Valley Café, and in front of the fire station just prior to last night’s 6 p.m. deadline.
