Last night’s meeting of the Morongo Valley CSD began with agency reports from County Sheriff’s department Sergeant Mauricio Hurtado and Morongo Valley Fire Department Deputy Chief Jim Brakebill. Hurtado and Brakebill both praised the efforts of two Morongo Valley teenagers who aided first responders in extracting victims from the vehicle that crashed into a power pole in Morongo Valley on Sunday night. The board also heard an update from the ad hoc committee tasked with researching the CSD’s general manager position and approved the writing of a grant which, if awarded, would provide the Morongo Valley fire department with funds for much-needed equipment.
