The Morongo Valley Community Services District board of directors held its regular monthly meeting last night. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has the details…
At last night’s meeting, the board discussed and approved the district’s 2019-2020 fiscal year audit. The report showed the district to be in a financially positive position despite slightly higher expenses than revenues for the year. The presenter advised the board to plan for potential shortfalls in the future and Director Johnny Tolbert suggested the board address recommendations on the audit at a future meeting. The board also set Tuesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. as the date and time for a town hall meeting to discuss the status of the CSD and fundraising for the Morongo Valley Fire Department.
Morongo Valley Fire Chief Gary Yearsley announced that the district is making good progress towards the installation of new playground equipment in Covington Park through a recently awarded park grant and reminded the public that Covington Park and the CSD office were reopened as of April 5. The board then waived the 2020 Chuck Osborne Volunteer-of-the-Year award (since the park had been closed due to COVID-19) and heard a positive update on attendance and activities thus far through the district’s 2021 softball season. The board tabled discussions on holding a public workshop on the district budget.
