The Morongo Valley CSD Board met last night. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says the salary of General Manger and County Supervisorial candidate Donna Munoz dominated the meeting…
At last night’s meeting of the Morongo Valley Community Services District, directors took up the issue of the employment contract for General Manager Donna Munoz. The topic was recently tabled after Munoz announced her intention to run for 3rd District County Supervisor. In a prepared statement, Munoz reminded the board of her voluntary salary reduction from $49,000 to $36,000 as an austerity measure, declined merit increases, and vowed not to create any vulnerabilities for the district regardless of future political aspirations. Her statement was met with a round of applause from community members in attendance. Directors voted to renew Munoz’s annual contract. The new contract will include the addition of some limited time off, but leave her salary unchanged. LAFCO had recommended Munoz’s compensation increase to an annual minimum industry standard of $41,000. Also last night, the board heard from the ad hoc committee on park vandalism. Chairman Chuck Osborne reviewed a number of security measures, some of which have already been instituted.
