MORONGO VALLEY CSD BOARD APPROVES PRELIMINARY BUDGET

During last night’s meeting of the Morongo Valley Community Service District board of directors, Fire Chief Gary Yearsley announced that the Morongo Valley Fire Department would be receiving an $85,000 joint grant with the fire department in the town of Yermo for the purchase of new life-saving extrication equipment. At last night’s meeting, the Morongo Valley CSD also approved a preliminary 2019-2020 district budget after extensive discussions and some alterations. The board is expected to approve a finalized budget during the next board meeting in July. The board then approved the purchase of a new, more advanced, defibrillator for the Morongo Valley Fire Department and approved a contract with a new company to collect charges for the deployment of emergency services from the Morongo Valley fire department. The board also approved the final list of alterations needed to bring the Covington Park community kitchen to county compliance. During director reports, Fire Chief Gary Yearsley briefly outlined the coordination of Morongo Valley first-responders during the traffic collision in Morongo Valley that claimed the lives of two teenagers on June 12. Directors Laurie Klimowicz and Kristina Brooks discussed the numerous grants that the CSD is currently applying for to help pay for improvements to the Covington Park playground equipment and ball field, which have been repeatedly vandalized. The board also approved a number of various banking transfers for the district. At the end of the meeting, the board went into closed session to hold a personnel discussion, there was no public report.
