After a special session, the Morongo Valley Community Services District continued with their regularly scheduled meeting, which saw tensions rise during a lengthy closed session. Reporter Jef Harmatz returns with more on last night’s meeting.
After a longer than planned special meeting, the board conducted regular business, including passing a measure to extend online meeting attendance into December, and capping employee vacation hours at 180. Finally, the board went into a closed session to discuss the discipline, dismissal or release of an employee. The board was joined by Fire Chief and Director of Operations Gerald Yearsley. The closed session lasted two full hours and was loudly contentious. Board President Gayle Swarat left before the closed session was finished, and Board Vice President Kristina Brook concluded the meeting, issuing an attorney approved statement that, “fire operations will continue until such a time that an investigative team may advise us that administrative leave may be warranted for one of our staff members.”
