In Morongo Valley last night, the Community Services District met in regular session. Among items under consideration was the budget for fiscal 2012-2013. The budget was approved following a public hearing. Also last night, the board approved a contract through June 2013 with interim General Manager Rick Lebel with a 2.5 percent merit increase. CSD board president Johnny Tolbert characterized Lebel’s performance as “outstanding.” Lebel’s new contract expires end of June 2013. Turning to the Fire Department, directors approved a new Standard Operating Guideline on equipment maintenance, safety and readiness replacing a less comprehensive procedure. And, the hire of a new Morongo Valley Fire Chief was announced. Jacque Johnson takes charge August 1. And finally, the assembled heard an appeal from a representative of the Well Christian Revival Center regarding the Church’s interest in purchase or lease of the former Women’s Club. The matter was referred to the ad hoc committee currently looking into the property.
