MORONGO VALLEY CAR FIRE BRIEFLY SHUTS DOWN HIGHWAY

A car fire on Highway 62 at the top of the Morongo Grade near Hess Boulevard briefly shut down Highway 62 on Friday morning. Morongo Valley firefighters were called to the scene just after 10 a.m. for a white station wagon traveling eastbound on the highway that had caught fire. The driver, and sole occupant, managed to get out safely and was not injured. The highway was re-opened at about 10:30 a.m.
