MORONGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT TOM BAUMGARTEN PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE

The Superintendent of the Morongo Unified School District has been placed on administrative leave. The move follows a closed, special meeting of the School Board Friday. Acting Superintendent Sharon Flores confirmed the action Monday but said, because it is a personnel matter, she could not comment as to why Tom Baumgarten was placed on leave, or how long it was anticipated he would be. Unconfirmed sources have said that actions taken by Baumgarten in July, unrelated to school business, were under investigation. Baumgarten has taken a number of leaves over the past few years related to his health.
