The Morongo Unified School District Board of Education meeting on February 18 starts with a closed session at 5:30 to deal with student and employee personnel issues, employee unit bargaining, and a conference with legal counsel on anticipated litigation. The 7 p.m. open session starts with two recognitions: one for Donna Petre, a Twentynine Palms High School teacher who was selected as a finalist for the California League of High Schools Educator of the Year for Region 10; and Twentynine Palms High School, for receiving a US News and World Report Bronze Medal in its Best High Schools rankings for 2013. Among the items on the action agenda are two credentialing waiver requests; 21 FITNESSGRAM waivers; and approval of administrative regulations or board policies on career technical education; English Language Learners; sale, lease, rental of District owned real property; administering medication and monitoring health conditions; education for foster youth; and behavioral interventions for special education students.
