MORONGO UNIFIED SCHOOL BOARD MEETS TONIGHT

Other than restoring one previously-eliminated classified position, the Board of Education of the Morongo Unified School District will tend mostly to adjustments of wording and amounts in assorted documents when they meet tonight. Reporter Dan Stork has more details…
The Morongo Unified School District Board of Education will begin its September 2 meeting with a work/study session at 5:30 p.m., to work on the policy on extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Following a 6:30 closed meeting to consider personnel and pupil issues, the Board returns to open session at 7. After approval of some CAHSEE waivers, it will consider whether to restore an information systems specialist position that it had eliminated in June. Then it will amend the contract of Deborah Turner for interim assistant superintendent that it approved at the last meeting; the amendment corrects a very small clerical error in the salary amount. The rest of the action agenda deals with the adoption of course outlines for Work Experience and Advanced Journalism, and tweaks in the Board policies for recruitment and professional development. The Board meets at Joshua Tree Elementary School.
