MORONGO UNIFIED SCHOOL BOARD MEETS TONIGHT

The Morongo Unified School District Board of Education will begin its meeting at 7 p.m. tonight by considering an agreement with Copper Mountain College allowing students to blend high school and college course work. If approved, the program would begin with courses in medical terminology and emergency response.
Later the board will take a look at its procedures for tracking chronic absences and truancies, assessing student performance and evaluating instructional programs. It will also consider adopting a policy requiring full immunization against specified diseases before grade 7.
Finally, as part of its continuing efforts to discourage smoking, the board will consider prohibiting hookahs and other devices that mimic using tobacco products.
The meeting will be held at Joshua Tree Elementary School on Sunburst Drive.
