Ronald Palmer, a member of the Morongo Unified School District Board of Directors and Twentynine Palms resident, died Wednesday evening. Palmer, who was just re-elected to the school board, had been a member of the school board since 2007. Palmer retired after teaching math at Twentynine Palms Junior High. He was also the faculty advisor for the Builders Club, and worked to promote the arts, science, and technology in the schools. The school board will consult with the county’s Department of Education to determine whether Palmer’s replacement will be filled by an appointment or a special election. Z107.7 will update this story when services are announced.
