MORONGO UNIFED SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFERING TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

The State is changing the age requirements for children entering kindergarten. In order to prepare students for entering school, a new program, Transitional Kindergarten, is being offered for children who will turn five years old in the fall. Reporter Dan Stork has more information about registering your child for this new program…
The Morongo Unified School District will be offering a transitional kindergarten program this coming school year. Students who are eligible for this program are five years of age between November 2 and December 2. This is not a program for students that are eligible for regular kindergarten. All students who live in the Morongo Basin and meet the age requirements will be eligible to attend the program. The transitional kindergarten program will be offered at Twentynine Palms Elementary and Friendly Hills Elementary Schools. Please note that this program will require that parents or guardians provide transportation to this program. This program will be taught by a fully credentialed kindergarten teacher. The Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010 enacted the legislation which creates this additional learning opportunity for these students. Contact the Instructional Services division of Morongo Unified School District at 760-367-9191 extension 4224 if you have any further questions. All required immunizations must be completed before enrolling the student. School starts August 27.
