The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is one of the great bird-watching sites in southern California. Reporter Taylor Thacker invites you to come out to enjoy the preserve, while helping with a bird count…
Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is seeking birdwatchers to take part in its annual Christmas Bird Count. On Sunday, December 14, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., people interested in birdwatching should meet in the Big Morongo Preserve’s parking lot for a fun filled day with the beautiful birds of the Morongo Basin. Previous birdwatching experience is desirable, but not essential. Christmas Count data is used in many scientific studies and constitutes the largest body of information about wintering bird populations anywhere in the world. Come spend time with your most interest neighbors- our local birds! Participants should bring lunch, water, binoculars, field guides, and warm clothing. For more information call 760-366-8913.
