An exhibit on the Morongo Basin’s LGBTQA+ history debuts tomorrow night (November 3) in Joshua Tree.
Organized by T. Hammidi, the “Hi Desert Queer and Trans Oral History” project, which features audio from our community’s long-time and new queer residents in which they reflect on their time here and their connection to the desert. The exhibit also features photos, video, and an interactive portion.
The Friday event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center, and will feature free vegan food by Elka.
After the audio exhibit, you can celebrate with a Queer Cabaret featuring live music by Teddy Quinn and Victoria Williams along with drag performances by Lady Chilane and Slim Jim. The cabaret begins at 8 p.m. and costs $10.
T. Hammidi will give a free artists talk at the exhibit at 3 p.m. on Saturday (November 4)
