The Morongo Basin Orchid Festival promises to be a treat not just for the nose, but also for the ears and tongue. The high-energy sound of Desert Sōl fills the day Saturday, October 3. They take the stage from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 5 p.m., the Jimmy King Jazz Quartet offers cool sounds, leading up to the Gubler family fireworks. On Sunday, the Yucca Valley High School Jazz Band begins at 10:30 a.m., offering multiple sets and bringing it on home at 3 p.m. Enjoy the Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary wine and cheese tasting both days. For larger appetites, enjoy pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, and hot dogs for lunch, and lasagna for dinner. Gubler Orchids is on Belfield Blvd. in Landers.
