Few would argue that October in Morongo Basin is one of the most beautiful times of the year. And for the past 23 years, the Morongo Basin Orchid Festival has made October even more beautiful. The Riverside/San Bernardino Orchid Society will sponsor an American Orchid Society judged show with registration of entries on Friday, October 5 from 1 to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. Judging will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with winners named and ribbons being awarded at noon. The show is open to everyone from professional growers to weekend hobbyists. So if you have an especially beautiful specimen sitting on the shelf at home, bring it in and share it with the world. The 2018 Morongo Basin Orchid Festival takes place October 6 and 7 at Gubler Orchids on Belfield Blvd. in Landers. Admission is free.
