And because meetings go dark in December, last night’s MAC meeting was the last. According to Claire Cozad, the new chief of staff for Supervisor Dawn Rowe, an advisory council will likely reform in the spring.
Beyond the thank yous and goodbyes that peppered the final meeting, there were reports from local fire and law enforcement. County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle reminded residents that with the time change comes the reminder to change the batteries in your homes’ smoke detectors.
Captain Luke Niles of the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station reported that they will be hiring four new deputies, hopefully by spring. Niles stated that the new hires will add one more additional officer added per shift.
MAC Chairman and Joshua Tree representative Glen Harris stated that the Joshua Tree Night Market will be renamed the Joshua Tree Downtown Market and will be open on November 13 and 27 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
