MORONGO BASIN MAC TO HEAR CHALLENGES TO KEEPING OUR SKIES DARK

Tonight, the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council will likely hear the usual community reports from local fire and law enforcement agencies, the MAC Chairman and representatives from all the Basin regions, but those ponder the heavens at night are awaiting a key agenda item.

Representing the International Dark Sky Association, amateur astronomer Tom O’Key will present before the Council on notable changes to our treasured dark skies within the Morongo Basin.

O’Key’s celestial presentation will be followed by Frank Haggard, who represents the County Special Districts Department. Gayl Swarat will then present on Resolution MB-MAC020 which proclaims Morongo Basin a Hate-Free Zone.

The Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council meets tonight at 5:30 pm at the Joshua Tree Community Center at 6171 Sunburst Avenue.
