The Morongo Basin Mac, a group that advises the County on local affairs, will meet tonight. Reporter David Haldane says they will hear appeals on recent county approval of two Joshua Tree projects…
The jury may still be out on the fates of two controversial Joshua Tree construction projects recently approved by the San Bernardino County Planning Commission. The Alta Mira housing project would put 248 homes on 115 acres between Alta Loma and Sunny Vista Drive near Friendly Hills Elementary School. And the Joshua Tree Solar Farm would be built on the 110 acres of the former Roy Williams Airport in the community of Sunfair.
At its regular meeting tonight, the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council will hear appeals filed by local citizens challenging both projects. The Council is already on record opposing them.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway 6:30 p.m. at the Joshua Tree Community Center on Sunburst Avenue.
