Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council met last night. Caltrans was there to answer some questions. Reporter Eric Knabe has the details…
In the first part of the meeting, Cal Fire reported there is a high fire danger in the area, possibly until Wednesday. There are more than eight large fires statewide and some of our local resources were sent to the Canyon 2 fire, but local response should not be affected. Caltrans introduced a new representative to the meeting and started their portion with questions and comments; local residents had plenty of both. For example, could there be a right in and right out lane from Sunset Road onto Highway 62. Other answers to questions asked were, yes, the median on the yucca grade will be filled in with probably stamped concrete; and yes, the bike paths are here to stay for now. Council member Mark Lunquist added that there are bigger plans those bike paths, and that they will be on displayed at the health fair in Luckie park on this Saturday and at the next MAC meeting.
