The Morongo Basin Mac, made up of representatives of the unincorporated communities of the Morongo Basin, meets tonight. Reporter Mike Lipsitz takes a look at the agenda…
At tonight’s 6:30 p.m. meeting of the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council, two new delegates will be sworn in: Lib Koenig representing Flamingo Heights and Teresa Sitz will step into the Wonder Valley seat. Under action items the Council will consider a resolution opposing a planned 35-acre solar development in Landers. That project was approved by the Planning Commission in December but has been held up pending a ruling on an appeal filed by the Landers Association. County supervisors are expected to hear the case in May. Also tonight, a representative from CalTrans will explain the planned continuous left turn lane on Highway 62, and the Sheriff’s Department will review off-road vehicle safety, law and courtesies. It all happens at the Joshua Tree Community Center behind the Sportsman’s Club on Sunburst Avenue in Joshua Tree.
