Land use and renewable energy are on tonight’s agenda of the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council. Reporter David Haldane explains…
Should utility companies be allowed to use desert lands to develop renewable energy sources such as wind and solar? It’s a question haunting denizens of Southern California for a while now. Tonight, the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council gets a chance to weigh in with the consideration of a resolution urging the county Board of Supervisors to prohibit such developments.
The issue has been making the rounds in the wake of the Trump administration’s recent threat to scrap a major Obama-era agreement protecting millions of acres in the California desert.
In other business, the MAC will hear a presentation on business services from the county’s Workforce Development Department.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway 6:30 p.m. at the Joshua Tree Community Center on Sunburst Avenue.
