MORONGO BASIN MAC HEARS OF THE DANGERS OF DUST

Council member Pat Flanagan made her presentation at the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council meeting last night. Reporter Eric Knabe Has the details…
Last night’s half-hour long presentation on the dust problem in the Morongo Basin was well researched and sourced. From lack of air monitors in our area, to dust control plans that are over 20 years old, the main concern is the dust that is microscopically small. Her presentation pointed to areas that are stripped of vegetation as the culprit, but she added that further investigation is needed. The subject will be brought up again at a county “open house” at Joshua Tree Community center October 11 from 5 to 8 p.m.
In other news, Lander’s council member Dawn Johnson announced that the Giant Rock clean-up was a great success and gave a shout-out to Z107.7 for the news story that started it all. Joshua Tree council member Mark Lundquist also had good news in that starting February 1 the MBTA will provide bus service to the Joshua Tree National Park.
