MORONGO BASIN MAC HEARS GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS ABOUT OFF-ROAD VEHICLES

Residents of the High Desert got a call to action at last night’s meeting of the MAC. Reporter David Haldane was there and explains…
If you’re concerned about off-road vehicles clamoring through the desert, there’s both good news and bad. The bad news is that the Bureau of Land Management has released a new plan allowing them to operate on much of its land. The good news: it’s also offering an alternative plan prohibiting them from the same areas. Which one prevails will depend largely on public input.
That was the gist of a report delivered by environmentalist Pat Flanagan at last night’s meeting of the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council. Her advice: make noise now to make the good news real.
To that end, a special website has been set up: https://orvwatch.com/category/wemo/ .

On it, you can view the competing plans, as well as download forms on which to make your wishes known.
But don’t wait too long; the deadline for public comment is June 14.
