The environmentalist-leaning Morongo Basin MAC met last night. Reporter David Haldane said the troops were exhorted to stop a BLM recreational off-road plan…
A packed meeting of the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council heard a call to arms Monday night. Their marching orders: respond to a plan by the Bureau of Land Management to open up more than 10,000 miles of desert routes, many of them local, to off-road vehicles.
Referring to numerous maps bearing a myriad of blue lines representing the proposed routes, MAC member Pat Flanagan—representing Desert Heights—urged residents to make their objections known before the Western Mojave Route Network Project becomes final.
Among the concerns: potential environmental damage, excessive noise and depressed property values.
